LIFE HACKS – OWN YOUR OWN HOME The most recent stats on home ownership tell us that roughly 35% of South Africans own a dwelling of some kind, be that a free-standing house, an apartment, farmhouse or even a homestead in a rural area. But for the remaining 2 thirds of our population, the dream of one day owning their own home might seem impossible. Many would-be buyers face the challenge of entering the market with no inter-generational support - they might be the first in their family to aspire to home ownership, and do not have the luxury of a mom or dad who can stand surety for debt or help them save for the costs of a deposit, bond registration fees and more. It might seem like a near-impossible feat to be able to make that purchase – but my guest joining us for life hacks today wants to rekindle a sense of hope that it IS indeed achievable.
