Mfundi Vundla is finally opening up about one of the biggest shake-ups in South African TV. He explains how the dramatic dismissal of 14 Generations actors in 2014 came down to a contract he had to honour with the broadcaster. What looked like a harsh decision, he says, was actually a battle that wasn’t his to fight. According to Vundla, the actors were taking on the wrong person.

But for some learners, school environments can sometimes be challenging, uncomfortable or even unsafe.Across the country, there have been ongoing conversations about learner safety, teacher conduct, bullying, and the responsibility schools have to protect children while they are in their care.This afternoon we’re opening up an important conversation about moments when learners may feel they need toprotect themselves within the schooling environment — whether it’s from bullying, unfair treatment, or situations involving educators. To help us understand what systems are in place and what learners and parents should do when issues arise, we’re joined by a communications representative from the Gauteng Department of Education.
