Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo's growing presence in Kenya's political and commercial circles has come under scrutiny after he posted a video showing President William Ruto driving him to a helipad at his home in Kilgoris. Chivayo is reportedly a regular visitor to State House and has spoken publicly about his close interactions with the President.

The founder of Intratrek Zimbabwe, which is involved in renewable energy projects, was also linked in June 2026 to the proposed expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. While reports claimed a company associated with Chivayo had secured a role in the multi-billion-dollar project, the Kenyan government has denied any involvement by him or his company in the procurement process.
