Today is World Book day, also known as Wold Book and Copyright Day or International Day of the Book. It is an annual event organized by UNESCO to promote reading, publishing and copyright. The day is also important in countries such as South Africa who faces a literacy crisis, with Grade 4 learners struggling to read for meaning. Lulu Gaboo spoke to Dr. Miemie du Preez, a senior lecturer and medical specialist in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at Stellenbosch University about the importance of World Book Day
