Former Mozambican President Joachim Chissano, has sounded a strong warning over the growing threat of post-election violence across Africa.
Speaking on Wednesday at the 2nd Annual Thabo Mbeki Africa Peace and Security Dialogue, underway in Magaliesburg, a small town in the Gauteng Province of South Africa, Chissano said the credibility of elections on the continent is increasingly under pressure, with rising accusations of fraud and vote rigging sparking violent clashes and civilian casualties.
