The number of people displaced by conflict and persecution worldwide declined in 2025 for the first time in a decade, according to the latest UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR Global Trends Report. While millions of refugees and internally displaced people were able to return home last year, the UN warns that many continue to face insecurity, damaged infrastructure and limited access to basic services. The report also highlights the growing humanitarian challenges facing children and families affected by displacement. Lulu Gaboo spoke to Eujin Byun, UNHCR Global Spokesperson
