The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, has expressed appreciation for Pretoria's stance, condemning what it describes as US-Israeli aggression against Iran, as well as South Africa's message of solidarity with the Iranian people. This follows a telephone conversation between Araqchi and his South African counterpart, Ronald Lamola, the minister of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO). Lamola has also been engaging with several counterparts across the Gulf region as part of ongoing diplomatic consultations amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.
