South Africa's (SA) Department of Home Affairs (DHA), has introduced a temporary visa concession for individuals affected by airspace closures arising from ongoing instability in the Middle East and Gulf region.

The directive, which was issued on March 23rd , provides short-term relief for affected foreign nationals and airline crew who are unable to travel due to current disruptions.

SA offers temporary visa for Middle East airspace disruptions

The United States (US) and Iran have agreed to an immediate two-week ceasefire, narrowly averting a major escalation after US President Donald Trump warned that a "whole civilisation will die."

 The truce, brokered by Pakistan, sets the stage for formal talks between delegations from both countries, scheduled to begin in Islamabad on Friday, 10 April. During the ceasefire, Iran's military has stated it will coordinate the safe passage of vessels through the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz.

All three parties are not only engaged on the battlefield but are also aggressively seeking to control the narrative, using official briefings, strategic communications, and social media campaigns aimed at both domestic and international audiences. 

This as reports suggest that Israel has imposed stringent military censorship on media covering the conflict with Iran.

Over the Easter weekend, King Mswati III, in his Good Friday address, stated that Eswatini would not recognise same-sex relationships or marriages, describing them as the "spirit of Sodom and Gomorrah."

 Reports have also emerged that the country's Minister of Education, Owen Nxumalo, warned that pupils found engaging in same-sex relationships could face expulsion from school. In response, Eswatini Sexual and Gender Minorities (ESGM) has strongly condemned the anti-LGBTIQ+ remarks made during the Easter services.
