The Global Fund and the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) have committed up to two million US Dollars over the next year to purchase around 150 thousand Dapivirine rings.
These rings, recently approved for use in 11 countries across Eastern and Southern Africa, including South Africa, offer women and girls an additional means to protect themselves from HIV.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to empower women with more choices in HIV prevention.
Lulu Gaboo spoke to Yvette Raphael, co-founder and Executive Director of Advocacy for Prevention of HIV in Africa (APHA).
