A flotilla of boats bound for Gaza has set sail from Barcelona. The vessels are carrying 350 pro-Palestinian activists and are stocked with medical and food supplies.
The Global Sumud Flotilla Mission is launching in two phases, the first from Barcelona and the second from Tunis on September 4. Activists hope the boats will converge in the Mediterranean before sailing towards Gaza, a journey expected to take seven to eight days.
Lulu Gaboo spoke to Jared Sacks, a member of South African Jews for a Free Palestine, as well as an activist, academic, and writer on leftist politics and social movements, who is among those heading for Gaza.
