The South African police are investigating an incident in which one person died in a stampede at the Home Affairs offices, which cater for refugees and asylum seekers in the country's capital city of Pretoria.
Over 20 people have been hospitalised after being injured in the incident.
The African Diaspora Forum (ADF) has called on the South African authorities to not only address the cause of the stampede but also the broader systemic issues plaguing Refugee Reception Centres.
Lulu Gaboo spoke to the African Diaspora Forum (ADF)'s Media and Publicity Secretary, Bongani Mkwananzi.
