The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has reaffirmed the importance of strengthening local vaccine manufacturing and improving emergency response systems across the continent. During its weekly public health briefing, Africa CDC highlighted progress in pandemic preparedness, cholera response efforts, and investments to advance Africa's health sovereignty agenda. Rotary District 9400, which spans four Southern African countries, is hosting a four-day programme starting today until 18 May 2026 focused on food security, global hunger solutions, community upliftment, diaspora mobilisation, diplomacy, and the development of corporate partnerships. As part of the engagements, a US$94,000 aquaponics grant aimed at strengthening efforts to combat hunger across Africa will be presented at the iconic Desmond Tutu House, which will serve as the future South African headquarters of The Desmond Tutu Programme to End Global Hunger.
