South Sudan's leader, President Salva Kiir, has dismissed one of his vice presidents, Benjamin Bol Mel, along with the Central Bank Governor and the Head of the Revenue Authority. No explanation has been given for the dismissals.
Bol Mel, who had been widely viewed as a possible successor to President Kiir, was appointed to the position in February, replacing James Wani Igga, a veteran politician and General. The sudden reshuffle has raised questions about internal dynamics within the country’s political leadership.
Lulu Gaboo spoke to Majak Daniel Kuany Alier, Secretary General of the Union of Journalists of South Sudan.
