South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has informed UN Secretary-General António Guterres that South Africa will withdraw its troop contribution to MONUSCO, the UN peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), after nearly 27 years of involvement.
South Africa currently has over 700 soldiers serving under MONUSCO, placing it among the top ten troop contributing countries to the mission.
