Senegal jails three TikTokers for insulting President Faye

A Senegalese court has sentenced three TikTok influencers to prison and imposed fines after convicting them of insulting President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. Critics have condemned the ruling as an attack on free speech in the West African nation.

The three men worked for Feenal Digital, an online media platform that produces content widely viewed as supportive of former Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, leader of the PASTEF party. Sonko recently parted ways with his former ally, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who launched his own political party last month.

Lulu Gaboo spoke to Mamadou Thior, Senegalese Political Analyst and President of Cored.
