The provincial government in South Africa's Eastern Cape province are looking at ensuring that residents who have been producing and selling cannabis benefit from opportunities that come from this agriculture sector. The government says it is confident that the province will find its rightful place to be the national cannabis and hemp commercialization industrialization construction and development site.

This week marks World Salt Awareness Week, observed globally from the 11th to the 17th of May. Health organisations are raising concerns over excessive salt consumption and its impact on public health. The Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa says many people are unknowingly consuming dangerous amounts of hidden salt through processed foods, increasing the risk of high blood pressure, stroke, and heart disease. The Foundation is now encouraging consumers to make what it calls "The Salt Shift" by considering healthier alternatives such as potassium salt substitutes. Our reporter Lebogang Mabange has more

The Cowry Forces for an Emerging Benin (FCBE), an opposition party in Benin, has announced that it is joining the ruling coalition. The party, which lost last month's presidential election, announced over the weekend, just two weeks before the inauguration of president-elect Romuald Wadagni. The FCBE, regarded as a moderate opposition force and the only opposition group that contested the recent Benin presidential election against the outgoing majority, says it would now align itself with the governing bloc. Lulu Gaboo spoke to political analyst, Jean Donald Taladzi.
