This week marks World Salt Awareness Week, observed globally from the 11th to the 17th of May. Health organisations are raising concerns over excessive salt consumption and its impact on public health. The Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa says many people are unknowingly consuming dangerous amounts of hidden salt through processed foods, increasing the risk of high blood pressure, stroke, and heart disease.
