The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) says it has started a phased withdrawal of its troops from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), fulfilling a Southern African Development Community (SADC) directive that was issued earlier in the year.
The troops from South Africa and Tanzania were deployed in the year 2023 as part of the SADC mission in the DRC.
