The South African (SA) National Cancer Registry (NCR), located within the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), has identified funding as one of its primary challenges over the past 40 years.
The NCR recently marked four decades of operation, during which it has monitored cancer incidence through pathology-based surveillance, producing important data to improve understanding of the cancer burden in SA and guide efforts in cancer prevention, control, and care.
