South Africa (SA) is today commemorating National Reconciliation Day to promote social cohesion, healing, unity and nation-building.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver a keynote address at the national commemoration taking place at the Ncome Museum, Nquthu Local Municipality, in KwaZulu-Natal Province under the theme:" Reaffirming Reconciliation for Future Generations.

SA commemorates National Reconciliation day

Senior government officials, policymakers, experts, and stakeholders have converged in Cape Town South Africa for the 9th Pan African Forum on Migration. The three-day gathering is hosted under the Theme: "Smart, Integrated and Secure Border Management: Leveraging Technology for Efficient Human Mobility and Trade in Africa.

It is tackling urgent issues on migration, mobility, and border management with a focus on leveraging digital innovation to enhance secure, integrated, and efficient movement across the continent.

9th Pan African Forum on Migration underway in South Africa

As the festive season approaches access to clean water is more critical than ever. South Africa's Water and Sanitation Minister, Pemmy Majodina wrapped up a visit to the Lesotho Highlands Water project which is currently in Phase 2.48% of construction has been completed on the Polihali Transfer Tunnel.

Majodina has warned that no further extensions will be granted and has stressed the urgency of meeting the 2028-2029 completion deadline for phase two. With increased travel, events and gatherings during the festive season,m the risk of water-borne illness rises as communities in South Africa continues to face water shortages and unsafe drinking water.

Travellers have been urged to be vigilant when travelling to high risk areas. Canada recently recommended heightened caution when travelling to South Africa, Tanzania, Senegal and Morocco; while also telling its citizens to avoid travel to the Central African Republic, Syria, Iran, Libya, Iraq and Ukraine.
