As the festive season approaches access to clean water is more critical than ever. South Africa's Water and Sanitation Minister, Pemmy Majodina wrapped up a visit to the Lesotho Highlands Water project which is currently in Phase 2.48% of construction has been completed on the Polihali Transfer Tunnel.

Majodina has warned that no further extensions will be granted and has stressed the urgency of meeting the 2028-2029 completion deadline for phase two. With increased travel, events and gatherings during the festive season,m the risk of water-borne illness rises as communities in South Africa continues to face water shortages and unsafe drinking water.
