Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has praised the efforts of pro-democracy activists who championed the cause to dismantle military regimes and restore democracy. He also commended journalists and media outlets for their pivotal role in the struggle three decades ago. Tinubu delivered his second Democracy Day address in Abuja, commemorating the significance of these collective efforts. Democracy Day is a national public holiday in Nigeria to commemorate the restoration of democracy in 1999, commemorated on 12 June.
