The first sitting of the seventh-democratic South African parliament is currently underway at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, in the Western province. The country's Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Raymond Zondo is presiding over the session. During this sitting, the Deputy Speaker, Speaker and President will be elected. In case more than one candidate is nominated for the respective positions, contestation will take place through a vote.
