The suspension of the Ingonyama Trust Board by His Majesty King Misuzulu has sparked a national debate in South Africa.
This powerful institution, which oversees communal land in the KwaZulu-Natal province, is now at the centre of a governance standoff following a dramatic sequence of events where some executive members of the board were served with suspension letters last week, triggering a stand-off between the Zulu King and the board raising questions about authority, tradition, and the rule of law which has now taken centre stage.
