A leading Kenyan lawyer and the country's former Justice Minister, Martha Karua says her deportation from Tanzania was to prevent her from attending the court case of opposition leader Tundu Lissu. Lissu, who is the leader of Tanzania's main opposition Chadema party, appeared in court yesterday facing charges of treason.
Karua is a respected human rights advocate, and a vocal critic of what she calls "democratic backsliding" in East Africa.
Tracey Boomgaard caught up with Martha Karua and began by asking her what the reasons were for her deportation.
