This is the question the countries' private sector sought to answer as the Global Compact Network South Africa (GCNSA) launched the 2024 private sector Voluntary National Review (VNR) report on the SDGs in Sandton, North of Johannesburg.

Global Compact Network South Africa launches 2024 private sector Voluntary National Review (VNR) report on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

A Malawi hospital has been accredited with a 98% accreditation from the Council for Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa, making it the next go-to hospital in the region.

The accreditation means that the hospital complies with internationally recognised standards aligned with the principles of the International Society for Quality in Health Care. The hospital is the first in the country to receive such a recognition.

Tundu Lissu, leader of CHADEMA, Tanzania's largest opposition party, has now spent a year in prison facing treason charges that could carry the death penalty.

He was arrested in April 2025, accused of inciting efforts to disrupt the October 2025 elections, allegations that led to his party being barred from participating. Yesterday, CHADEMA held a virtual memorial, turning what could have been a sombre occasion into a powerful rallying call for democratic resistance.

 Reports indicate that he has been held in solitary confinement and isolation, conditions that his legal team and international observers have condemned as a violation of human rights.
