It has been reported that the former private military firm Blackwater's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Erik Prince, is leading a team that is helping the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to secure and tax its extensive mineral wealth.
Prince's assistance is running parallel to a broader minerals-for-security deal being negotiated between the DRC and the Trump administration to secure critical mineral supplies. Washington expects the minerals deal negotiated with the central African country will involve a range of private sector partners.
