eSwatini soldiers have reportedly accidentally shot and wounded a US diplomat at the Maphiveni Military Roadblock. The incident is believed to have occurred after soldiers suspected that criminals were attempting to evade the roadblock when the diplomat’s vehicle made a U-turn while approaching the checkpoint.
In a statement, eSwatini’s Acting Government Spokesperson, Thabile Mdluli, said the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still being investigated.
