Ethiopia expels six Sudanese consular staff members and also ordered the closure of the country's consulate

Ethiopia has expelled six Sudanese consular staff members from the western city of Assosa, near the Sudanese border, and ordered the closure of the country's consulate. The move comes amid growing tensions between the two neighbours, following Sudan's allegations that drones targeting its infrastructure are being launched from Ethiopian territory. The six diplomats have reportedly been given 48 hours to leave Ethiopia. The latest expulsions come just weeks after Addis Ababa expelled 10 Eritrean diplomats and ordered the closure of its embassy in Eritrea on October 1st. That decision prompted Asmara to sever diplomatic relations with Ethiopia, further escalating tensions in the Horn of Africa.
