EFF leader, Julius Malema, sentenced after he was found guilty of unlawful possession, discharging a firearm in a public area

The leader of one of South Africa's opposition parties, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema, is being sentenced in the East London Magistrate's Court in the Eastern Cape province.

Malema was convicted last year on multiple charges, including unlawful possession and discharging a firearm in a public area. The shooting incident was captured on video. It happened during the EFF's fifth anniversary celebrations.

 Lulu Gaboo spoke to SABC News reporter, Lubabalo Dada.
