The Department of Health in South Africa's Gauteng province will roll out the digital fingerprint system that uses biometric technology to identify the bodies of unknown people in mortuaries. The Gauteng provincial government launched the system last year- and has intentions to link the system to fingerprint database systems of neighbouring countries, which will allow for easier identification of foreign citizens in the province.
