South African (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa and Kenyan President William Ruto say Pretoria and Nairobi are working together to advance African interests amid growing geopolitical competition and shifting global power dynamics.

Kenya, SA unite to advance African interests

Kenyan President William Ruto has assured citizens and the international community that Kenya has not recorded any Ebola cases despite growing concern over the outbreak in neighbouring regions.

Speaking at the Union Buildings in Pretoria during his three-day State Visit to South Africa, President Ruto emphasised that there has not been a single reported case of Ebola in Kenya.

The South African (SA) government plans to send envoys across Africa and other parts of the world following a surge in tensions linked to allegations of xenophobic attacks against foreign nationals. President Cyril Ramaphosa says the initiative aims to foster dialogue on migration and counter what he describes as misleading narratives portraying South Africans as being xenophobic. 

The move comes amid growing concern over the spread of misinformation on social media, including the circulation of manipulated, miscaptioned, and fake images and videos falsely depicting violence against immigrants in SA. Authorities argue that the rapid spread of unverified visual content online has complicated efforts to address migration challenges, fueled public tensions, and contributed to the spread of fake news across the continent.
