A team of medical experts led by Dr Annah-Mary Nyakabau of CancerServe conducted an outreach programme on Friday at Karanda Mission Hospital near Mt Darwin in Zimbabwe. The initiative provided assistance to more than 300 people, focusing on cancer screening, awareness and treatment services.

The outreach comes at a time when growing numbers of Zimbabweans view cancer as a major public health threat, amid concerns about late diagnoses, limited access to treatment, and shortages of essential medicines and medical equipment.

Health advocates say early detection remains critical in improving outcomes for cancer patients, while ongoing outreach programmes play an important role in expanding access to screening and support services, particularly in underserved communities.
