Dr Cathy Ikiror Mbidde from Uganda's Makerere University has called for a fundamental shift in how African higher education institutions prepare students for life after graduation. Representing Makerere University at the 2nd International Conference on Higher Education, Teaching, Learning, and Student Support, currently underway at the University of South Africa (UNISA) in Pretoria, Dr Mbidde emphasised the need to reimagine education with a focus on student support, innovation, and self-employment. Highlighting the continent's youth unemployment crisis, she stressed that simply graduating students is no longer enough. Channel Africa's Reporter Michael Mbewe spoke with Dr Cathy Ikiror Mbidde.
