The MEC of Health in Limpopo Province, in South Africa, Dr Phophi Ramathuba says their Botswana counterparts are assisting them with locating the families of the 45 people who were killed in a bus crash in the province recently for DNA testing. The crash took place on the R518, at the Mma Matlakala Bridge, between Marken and Mokopane. The bus was transporting people from Gaborone in Botswana to the Saint Engenas Zion Christian Church at Moria in Limpopo for the Easter service when the crash happened.

Botswana assists SA locate the families of the 45 people killed in recent bus crash

Kenyan opposition leader, Rigathi Gachagua says there was an attempt on his life during a church service yesterday, claiming that a gang of rogue police officers attacked the church using bullets and tear gas. Gachagua has accused his former ally, President William Ruto of ordering the attack.

The country's interior minister has condemned the violence, calling it unacceptable. Police say an investigation has been launched and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Zimbabwe's former opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa, is back on the political stage after taking a two-year break.

 He's launched what he calls Agenda 2026, a citizens' movement he says is meant to tackle a deep governance crisis marked by disputed elections, corruption, and state capture.

Speaking over the weekend, Chamisa said he's "returning to the dance floor," and he spoke to Lulu Gaboo about his next steps.

The United Nations (UN) is warning of a sharp global rise in internet shutdowns, describing the spread of digital blackouts as a growing threat to fundamental rights and democratic participation.

UNESCO says 2024 was the worst year on record for government-imposed internet disruptions, with the trend continuing into 2026 amid protests, elections and political unrest. From nationwide blackouts in Iran and Afghanistan to targeted social media bans in South Asia and election-related disruptions across Africa, the UN cautions that cutting connectivity  fuels misinformation, and undermines education, journalism, humanitarian work and economic activity.
