What can be expected from the upcoming G20 summit?

Climate change is increasingly recognised as a major threat to human health. But a new World Health Organization report says investing in measures to protect people from its effects could also deliver substantial economic benefits. The report estimates that six priority actions could save around 1.6 million lives every year, prevent 17 billion tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions and generate trillions of dollars in economic and fiscal benefits. It also estimates that every dollar invested could deliver 24 dollars in benefits. South Africa's Independent Electoral Commission says the counting and recording of votes are key to ensuring a transparent and credible electoral process in the 2026 Local Government Elections. Speaking to the media at the Results Operations Centre in Midrand, north of Johannesburg, IEC Chief Electoral Officer Sy Mamabolo explained that ballots are counted at the voting stations where they were cast, with each vote carefully recorded. The South African Police Service (SAPS) says it is maintaining heightened security operations following Wednesday's local government elections, as the Independent Electoral Commission continues counting and verifying votes across the country. Briefing the media at the Results Operations Centre, NATJOINTS chairperson and Deputy National Commissioner for Policing, Lieutenant-General Tebello Mosikili, says police deployed officers at all 23,000 voting stations.
