The US Senate has voted overwhelmingly to extend the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), a key trade agreement between the US and Africa. America has extended the agreement for another two years. The Senate voted 90 to six, with the AGOA extension included in a much larger government funding bill. House of Representatives now has to approve the Senate's version of the legislation before it can go to President Donald Trump for his signature. The development could be a big win for African exporters, including South Africa that has lobbied hard for the extension.
