Africa's agricultural transformation is once again in the spotlight as the African Union Commission and the AU Development Agency-NEPAD officially launch the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Strategy and Action Plan for 2026 to 2035.
The strategy outlines a renewed push to end hunger, boost productivity, and ensure sustainable food systems across the continent. The three-day event will take place in Johannesburg and will be hosted by the South African government.
Among those participating is the Africa Food Systems Parliamentary Network (AFSPaN), which is working to strengthen legislative oversight and budget support for agrifood systems across Africa. Dr Dora Siliya, a leader at AFSPaN and a former Zambian Cabinet Minister, spoke to Asanda Beda about the parliamentary role in transforming Africa's food systems.
