South Africa's agricultural exports to the European Union (EU) face stricter environmental standards under the EU Green Deal, aimed at achieving climate neutrality by 2050. The EU, South Africa's key trading partner, accounted for 2-point-5 billion US Dollars in agricultural exports in 2023. However, new sustainability regulations require exporters to align with EU practices to maintain market access. The National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC) warns that adapting to these changes is crucial for South Africa's agricultural sector to remain competitive.
