The African Unite Borders Bus Trucks Association (AUBBTA) has raised concerns over the suspension of trucks and food supplies at the Lebombo border post between South Africa and Mozambique, warning of a looming humanitarian and economic crisis in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. The association has criticized delayed intervention by the SADC Chair and Mozambique's opposition, cautioning that these disruptions could trigger mass migration and destabilize neighboring countries. In a statement, the organization urged Zimbabwe to go further by removing the state of emergency clause. The country's President Emmerson Mnangagwa signed the Death Penalty Abolition Bill into law on New Years Eve.
