Global rights group, Amnesty International has welcomed Zimbabwe's decision to abolish the death penalty for all crimes calling it a "historic moment." In a statement, the organization urged Zimbabwe to go further by removing the state of emergency clause. The country's President Emmerson Mnangagwa signed the Death Penalty Abolition Bill into law on New Years Eve.
