South Africa's Electricity and Energy Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has warned that Artificial Intelligence (AI) could either accelerate South Africa's economic growth-or deepen inequality and destroy jobs if its benefits are not shared inclusively. Speaking on behalf of Deputy President Paul Mashatile at NEDLAC's 31st Annual Summit in Pretoria this Friday, Ramokgopa said AI can drive productivity, innovation and new employment opportunities, but could also displace workers and widen the digital divide.
