The legal team representing South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Velenkosini Hlabisa has accused the brother of Queen Masalanabo Modjadji of acting in his own self-interest. The allegation was made in submissions to the Pretoria High Court, which is hearing a challenge by members of the Modjadji royal family to President Ramaphosa's decision to recognise Masalanabo Modjadji as the rightful heir to the Balobedu queenship in Limpopo Province. South Africa is making progress in rebuilding infrastructure in the Kruger National Park, damaged by severe flooding earlier this year. Several roads, bridges and rest camps were badly affected, with the total damage estimated at around 950 million rand. South Africa's largest nursing union, the Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa, DENOSA, has given health authorities in Gauteng province until next month to address staff shortages and improve conditions in public hospitals. The union is also calling for better health infrastructure, fewer vacant or acting management positions, and reliable supplies of medicines and medical equipment.

Speaking on behalf of Deputy President Paul Mashatile at NEDLAC's 31st Annual Summit in Pretoria this Friday, Ramokgopa said AI can drive productivity, innovation and new employment opportunities, but could also displace workers and widen the digital divide.
