View descriptionShare

Human Rights Watch says South Africa's authorities should intensify efforts to address anti-immigrant sentiments and violence to ensure the safety and protection of at-risk foreign nationals in the country. This follows recent anti-immigrant group March and March demonstrations against undocumented migrants in Pretoria, Johannesburg, and Durban. South Africa has been grappling with intermittent but widespread harassment against foreign nationals living in the country, whether refugees, asylum seekers, or both documented and undocumented migrants. Tsepiso Makwetla spoke to Human Rights Watch South African Researcher, Nomathamsanqa Masiko-Mpaka.
