More than 26,000 people took part in the inaugural Nelson Mandela Marathon in Cape Town, South Africa, on Sunday. The 42-point-2-kilometre race is described as the world's first value-based running series. Organised as part of the Mandela Legacy Sporting Series, the event reflects the Nelson Mandela Foundation's commitment to Madiba's belief in sport as a force for unity and collective action.
