As Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) Day is marked, significant because MSMEs account for 90% of businesses, 60 to 70% of employment and 50% of GDP worldwide.
Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) are considered the backbone of societies everywhere as they contribute to local and national economies and to sustaining livelihoods, in particular among the working poor, women, youth, and groups in vulnerable situations.
A situation that is very true here on the African continent. Taking part in a special MSME day event at the UN is The PanAfrican Chamber of Commerce.
