South Africa's Department of Health will oppose DignitySA's court application to legalise medically assisted dying - MAiD  in the country. The  Non-profit organisation's, lodged an application on April 9th at the North Gauteng High Court in the country's capital Pretoria, asking the court  to declare the current blanket common-law prohibition unconstitutional, unlawful and invalid on this medical practice. Welcome to the Wednesday edition of The Discourse. This morning, we focus on how African teams have performed at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, being co-hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States. The continent has enjoyed its most successful World Cup campaign yet, with a record nine of its ten representatives reaching the knockout stage. To reflect on Africa's performances and what they mean for the global game, we're joined by Mthokozisi Dube, Chief Editor of FARPost, one of Africa's leading football news platforms, which covers the game across the continent and beyond. Mthokozisi covered the tournament across the three host nations before returning to South Africa and he spoke to Peter Ndoro about his experience
