Global Flyways Summit focuses on protecting migratory birds and vital habitats

View descriptionShare

The Global Flyways Summit gets underway in Nairobi, Kenya today, bringing together governments, scientists, conservation organisations and financial institutions to discuss the protection of migratory birds and the habitats they depend on.Migratory birds travel across countries and continents each year, relying on a network of wetlands, feeding grounds and resting sites along the way. The summit will focus on how these habitats can be protected, as bird populations face growing pressures from habitat loss and environmental degradation. For more on what’s at stake and what the summit hopes to achieve, we’re joined from Nairobi by Martin Harper, CEO of BirdLife International.
