The Zimbabwean Government has moved to reassure the public that no cases of Hantavirus have been detected in the country, even as health authorities remain on high alert. As a precaution, three healthcare workers who were exposed to suspected cases have been placed under quarantine, highlighting the seriousness with which officials are treating the situation.

With growing global awareness around emerging and zoonotic diseases, the focus now is on preparedness, surveillance, and public reassurance.

Mpho Sithole spoke to Farai Muroiwa Marapira ZANU PF's Director for Information and Publicity, to unpack what this means and whether there is any cause for concern.
