Zambian authorities called to uphold rights of opposition members

View descriptionShare

The United Nations (UN) Human Rights Office is calling on Zambian authorities to uphold the rights of opposition members reportedly arrested and detained before and after the country's general election.

The call comes as President Hakainde Hichilema begins another term in office, after being declared the winner of the 13 August election. The UN says any post-election grievances must be addressed peacefully and in line with international human rights law.

 Channel Africa's Lebogang Mabange reports.
